You, Me, and a Dirty Girl Mud Run

On top of my plan for my runs this year, I know I can’t spend all my running time on training mode or I may go crazy. Some people must know crazy is right up my alley, though. :) This is happening next month!

Since it’s an all girl run, I actually wanted to run this with my daughter last fall, but the timing and location didn’t pan out, so I’m excited that they contacted me to be an ambassador for the series and spread some Dirty Girl love.

So here’s the deal, it is NOT a race. Dirty Girl is a 5k mud run for women of all ages and athletic abilities. Don’t worry, it’s not a “race” in the traditional sense. It is an untimed obstacle course designed to push you slightly out of your comfort zone, but only as far as you are comfortable going.

The course is set up with 12 different obstacles which breaks up the 5k (3.1 miles), so if the thought of running that far scares you, don’t let it stop you. There will be plenty of cheers, encouragement, and help to get you through the course as you run, walk, and even crawl through some PMS (pretty muddy stuff)! They also offer detours if a challenge is more than you can handle. No excuses!

You can find more information (including other locations) on the Dirty Girl site or show them some love on Facebook and let them know I sent you! Still not sold? Check out their blog and you’ll find that Dirty Girls come in all ages, shapes, and sizes. Once you’re ready to sign up, use the code: SDBLOGGUEST to save 20% off your registration, and a portion of your registration will be donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Win, win, I say.

So who’s ready for a day at the spa?

Disclosure: I’m a Dirty Girl Ambassador, selected because of my general awesome nature and ability to inspire. In return for spreading the word, my Dirty Girl Mud Run is comped, but all opinions are my own. <– True story. :)

Have you run an obstacle course or mud run before? Do you plan to in 2013?

  1. I’ve run pretty muddy and loved it, will do the same and warrior dash this year!

    • Ooh, I totally want to do a Warrior Dash sometime! I was looking at a Spartan, but the SoCal race is the same weekend as Tinkerbell. I jacked my shoulder doing an obstacle course run last May, but this one seems pretty harmless :)

  2. I’ve never done a muddy run, sounds fun. Curious to hear how you like it!

    • If there is one in your area (and there should be!) DO IT. They are soooo much fun and a totally different experience than a regular run. I did an obstacle course run (no mud) and a Gladiator Run (co-ed, lots of mud) and mud makes it better, I promise!

  3. I’m doing my first muddy run this year as a Pretty Muddy Run Ambassador. I look forward to hearing more about yours!

    • Awesome! I think it will be different doing an all girl run compared to the co-ed one I did last spring. A little easier on the eyes with the costumes, that’s for sure. ;)

  4. I’ve never done one of these but it does look like a Dirty good time!

  5. I ran this last year in Dallas and it was SO much fun — no pressure at all, easy course and manageable obstacles.

  6. Dirty girl is such a fun event!!! I rant the buffalo dirty girl this past fall and it was a blast. Mud, girl power, fun, laughter, and beer. That’s pretty much right up my alley ;)

  7. So, are you doing the 2/9 one in San Diego… are you looking for company? That sounds really freakishly fun. My arm is very easily twisted. :-)
