True Food Shower

Running aside, my other favorite thing is food. Good food. Healthy food that tastes good is even better.

Over the weekend, I helped throw a bridal shower for one of my girlfriends that ditched me for some guy up in Oregon. We planned a dinner at a restaurant because our bride to be has more eating issues than I can work with that offered a lot of gluten free, healthy options. My first time there was with the hubs. He was not a fan, so I think that put a damper on my dining experience as well.

Every time I’ve been, though, the food has always been good, as well as the service, so I was looking forward to getting my eats on. We got there and as our tables were being put together, we were greeted by our server, Chris. Once he heard it was a bridal dinner, he offered to work some Magic Mike for us. Ummm, no. (I’m pretty sure there were no Asians in Magic Mike, not to mention no one had, or wanted to, see it) Moving on…He was a good sport and even played (and won) one of our shower games.

I’m not one of those crafty types. At. All. I’m on Pinterest, but I’m not a fan of pinning 8,000 projects I have no desire or intention dream of making. I pin the stuff I find snarky and amusing, or things that motivate me to run and keep fit. But, we were trying to be financially responsible, so I gave it my best shot. Or something like that.

It ended up being very cutsie after all. Sadly, I lost a couple of pictures on the transfer over to my computer. So on to the food…
One of the girls suggested we try the crudite, which is fancy French for a BIG bowl of raw veggies on ice. OH. SO. GOOD. It came with both a tzatziki sauce (that was gluten free) and a black olive dipping sauce that I didn’t try because olives are just gross to me.
They have fresh, local veggies brought in daily, so there’s always a variety of what you’ll get each day. Yum.
I thought about having a salad for dinner, but these veggies hit the spot perfect and I went with the steak tacos.

They were the perfect portion. Instead of pintos, they were served with anasazi beans. Our guy pointed out that they were a bit healthier than pintos, and less inflammatory. Did he just make a fart reference? I think so. At least that’s what I heard. And it made me chuckle.

There was more food than I had time to take pictures of, but it was all good. Thanks to True Food Kitchen for letting us camp out, wave a few panties around, and make some good memories. Our waiter was awesome – not only for the great service, but being super knowledgeable about the menu and answering all of our questions in uber great detail.

Question: Gift cards or lingerie if the bridal shower you’re attending is in public?
