Resolution Run

Resolution Run, done. It was supposed to be a rainy run, so I layered up and headed out.

RRun

It was more of a drizzle than rain, but I’m a sissy and so I sat in my car until fifteen minutes before race time it was chilly. I enjoy these smaller races (just over 1,200 runners, with less than half running the 15k with me). The race started at 7am (it started a good 7 minutes late, but not a surprise for such a small field) and I didn’t leave my house until close to 6:30. Love the short drive and minimal traffic. :)

Startline

About mid way through the course, the sun came out, and it reminded me of San Francisco – perfect running weather.  I ran it slower than I wanted, but was just happy to be over this cold and not have any breathing issues. My first four miles were closer to an 11min/mi, then the second half stuck closer to a 10:17min/mi. Official chip time: 1:39:23. Meh…I was hoping to finish closer to 1:30, but hoping verses training are two different things. I knew I wasn’t well prepared, so I didn’t set any time goals. My goals were to show up (check) and keep a pace that minimized walk breaks (check). At the very least, it was a good way to gauge where I’m at for my upcoming half marathons.

Aside from my lack of actual training, I didn’t eat much yesterday while I was out, dinner was super early and very light, and I didn’t feel well rested. The fam bam is back to school and work this week, so I’m hoping that gets us all back on a regular schedule again.

This week I hope to get in more runs outside with my new kicks, and hopefully run some hills, and keep up with the 30 Day Ab Challenge.

What do you have planned for this week?

  1. I am going to be really busy this week at work, but plan on working out every night after work. Mon, Wed, & Sat are running and Tues & Thurs are crossfit. I also have my first crossfit competition on Sunday.
