I’ve heard read on a number of blogs that there is often a post marathon “blues” that kicks in. Not me, I thought. This was such a great experience, I am ready to get back to it and tackle my next race! Then that whole walking and functioning thing took over and my body wasn’t so interested in what my mind wanted. It has been work to even like the idea of running, much less wanting to tackle the mileage each week. I’m guessing this is that aforementioned blah that catches up after any big event. I did set a goal of 120 miles this month, however, so I’ve slowly been plugging away and making progress. I know putting things out there definitely helps keep me on track.
I also read somewhere that you take a day off for every mile of your race. 26 days seemed ridiculous, but I’m all for giving comfort food and lots of rest & recovery to avoid any post race blues.

While it may seem as if I’ve eaten my way through the last few weeks thus explaining my blog absence, I’ve definitely not fallen off the wagon. I weigh myself daily – more out of habit from keeping tabs on my hydration during my training – and continue to stay within a couple of pounds of my normal race weight. Running has been consistent, albeit shorter, and it’s been nice not worrying how a meal may come back to haunt me the next morning. The hubs has also been going to the gym with me, so that’s made me more consistent with cross training and I’m remembering how much I love to lift, especially when my body responds well to it!

One of my running buddies named my biceps for me: Say hello to Vicious and Delicious. The hubs and I are still laughing over that one. I’m glad I have crazy people in my life that can come up with some real winners. It’s been a super busy month since coming back from San Fran, and this has been a running theme in so many areas of my life these past few weeks:
There has been so much other good stuff going on that I’ll be sharing in the next few posts including a bright and shiny new PR, an upcoming move, and some giveaways!
Until then, dig deep and make it happen

Ambassador for Fitfluential, Fit Approach (Sweat Pink), and Girls Gone Sporty, this {almost 40} mother runner is running it...

I let myself cheat on Thanksgiving, but I usually always workout on that day also. I don’t give myself extra days off during the holidays and even though I give myself a cheat day I keep it in moderation. I only eat one dessert instead of the 10 I want too!
One dessert instead of 10, that’s a good call!! We have literally had four days of celebrations (with dessert). Great motivation to hit the workouts even harder and enjoy guilt free!
I’m staying focused through the holidays with a few challenges – HBBC and Best Body Bootcamp are both awesome. I’m trying to enjoy food as well as eat in moderation as much as possible.
I totally get the difficulty of running after a big race. I had such a hard race last month, and my first run back was painful, so I’ve now taken 3 weeks off and am getting ready to get back at it.
Nice to know I’m not the only one that has to work to get back to it! I’ll be posting my race recap soon, apparently I needed a full on race to get the mojo going!
I’m actively trying to prevent getting off my workout schedule by scheduling runs & workouts. I’m doing a 5K on Thanksgiving and have a workout scheduled with my PT on Friday. Your “guns”
looks great!
Planning ahead definitely makes a HUGE difference in keeping our goals!
Thanks – the guns are a continual work in progress!!
