what the heck was I thinking when I signed up mother of a hill on the course. We ran just a portion of it this weekend, and I have to say, it was my recent best run. We had twelve miles on the schedule, and it was a perfect morning for it. Yes, I am totally spoiled living in SoCal.
The weather was in the upper 50’s and the sun was just starting to come out and warm things up at the end of our run. I haven’t had a decent long run since the San Diego Half as my calves have been a mess of tightness and even when I’m running with our group, I find myself running solo. It was so great to have a run buddy this weekend who was kind enough to take it slow and humor me with some photo opps.
One of the things I really appreciate about our group is they are so awesome about waiting to cheer everyone in. It doesn’t matter whether you are going 2 miles or 12 miles, or whether you walked, shuffled, or hustled your miles, they are the best cheerleaders. Love them. And I loved that the sun came out as we were finishing, which made for the perfect post run recovery – quick breakfast and a little bit of time to put my feet up before tackling the rest of the day.
Sometimes the best runs aren’t the fastest or furthest. Sometimes the best runs are because you’ve got someone to run with. Sometimes the best runs are when the weather and view are perfect. Sometimes the best runs are when you’re reminded how far you’ve come and that you really are a runner. Don’t forget to check out MissZippy1′s blog for a list of other #BESTRUN posts.
What about you? What was your recent best run? Are you training for any upcoming races?
