First full week of 2013, check. My first race towards my 13 in 2013 is just 10 days away and this week was consistent, but not 110% as I would have liked. I’m a creature of habit, and adding my new Polar to the mix has been a mixed blessing. I am loving the numbers, but am still deciphering what they mean & how that translates into making me fitter, faster, and stronger. Actually, that’s a lie. I haven’t been deciphering. I’ve been tweeting a friend that’s served as the Google for all my questions. Add running in my new kicks and being hypersensitive to every motion, the kids heading back to school at their new location (can I just point out that I am a good Asian driver that was not involved in the car accident the first day of school with a new drop off/pick up system?), and every day seemed to be either a rushed workout or the gym was super packed which left too much down time in between sets.
I’m working toward my goals, but the one on the list that involves me managing my time rather than being ruled by it isn’t one that can be posted on Instagram or through the Twitterverse. Or can it? Apparently, YES! Some of my favorite blogging buddies have come together to help me make this year happen! Ok, they didn’t do this all just for me, but I’m kinda a big deal, so I can pretend, right?
So what’s the deal?
- Use the hashtag #goalgetter2013 on Instagram and/or twitter
- At the end of each month, post a photo
- The photo shows how you are working to achieve your goal
Ultimately, the responsibility is on me to reach my goals for the year.
I’m not being unrealistic as I know my body is a random freak show at times, and my family will trump my training schedule as needed – let’s just keep that last tidbit between us though, yes? But I also know that some accountability, even as light hearted as a simple photo, can help.
I may as well confess I had the lemon bar, but the cookies remain in their lonely little bowl and I’m not looking their way again. I see the shabby outlines of my abs then again, it may just be the shadow of stretch marks shifting as I try not to get a cramp flexing said abs and I’ve told the hubs no to pizza, ordered a yummy salad when we had burgers the other night, and made sure to have a shake before heading out to back to school night with the kids so I wouldn’t be tempted to give in to the cries for a quick (and probably unhealthy) dinner option that wouldn’t be instagram worthy.
You too, can be a goal getter this year! Not just a dreamer, planner, wisher, but a GETTER (not to be confused with trying to git r done, let’s keep it classy, people). You can find this little community making it happen on Facebook or through their respective blogs:
How is your year starting off? We’re all busy. All the time. What’s your magic for managing your time?
